The 6th annual meeting of the WELMEC e.V. with participation of GUM's representative.

On 17-19 June, the 6th annual meeting of the WELMEC e.V. (European Cooperation in Legal Metrology) was held in Bratislava.

WELMEC is an organisation established in 1990, whose mission is the coordination of the European approach to legal metrology by publishing guides and other informational and regulatory documents, as well as the cooperation with the European Commission and stakeholders, such as associations of manufacturers of various measuring instruments.

During the meeting, the following resolutions were adopted:

  • the election of Mr Jan Deconinck, Vice-Chairperson of WELMEC, as Chairperson of WELMEC, with a term of office starting from the next meeting of the WELMEC Committee in 2026;
  • the election of new Convenors of WG 2 (Daniel Stastny, Czech Republic) , WG 14 (Cheuk Hin Lau, Sweden), Deputy Convenor of WG 14 (Martin Koval, Czech Republic);
  • the election of new Deputy Convenors of Subgroups within WG 7 “New technologies” (Martin Nischwitz, Germany) and “Evaluation of WELMEC Software guides” (Marko Esche, Germany) as well as new Deputy Convenors of subgroups within WG 11 “Gas” (Christophe Brun, France) and “Electricity”(Christian Mester, Switzerland);
  • the approval of the report from the previous WELMEC Committee meeting;
  • the assignment of the task of proposing to WELMEC WG 6 an initiative to create a public register of markings related to measuring vessels on the WELMEC website. In addition, the Working Group was asked to collect and report information on such markings from each member country;
  • the approval of the requirement for the WELMEC Committee to accept all documents containing the WELMEC stance, including information documents, before they are posted on the WELMEC website;
  • the approval of all reports from WELMEC Working Groups, except for WG 12;
  • the approval of the revised 10.12, 11.5, 11.7, 13.1, 7.2 guides;
  • the approval of WG 6 and WG 10 information documents.

GUM was represented by Mr Marcin Mikiel, member of the WELMEC Executive Board. The next meeting will take place at the end of May/beginning of June 2026 in Tbilisi.
