EURAMET 2030 Strategy publicly available
EURAMET (the European Association of National Metrology Institutes) has published its Strategy 2030 document EURAMET 2030 on its website.
EURAMET, formerly known as EUROMET, is the Regional Metrology Organisation of the Member States of the European Union (EU), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and EU candidate countries. The objectives of EURAMET shall be to coordinate European metrology regarding European metrology research programmes, to coordinate the European metrology infrastructure and to support European industry and academia in the development of scientific and applied metrology in the context of societal challenges such as health care, climate change, energy. This shall be achieved through the coordination of cooperation between National Metrology Institutes (NMI) in Europe regarding research in metrology, particularly on measurement traceability, international recognition of national measurement standards and associated measurement capability, new trends in metrology such as digitisation.
EURAMET was established on 11 January 2007 in Berlin. From a legal point of view, it is an association registered under German law, based in Brunswick. On 1 July 2007, this association took over EUROMET's role as Regional Metrology Organisation (RMO). EUROMET was incorporated in Madrid, Spain, on 23 September 1987 and became operational on 1 January 1988.
As mentioned above, full membership of EURAMET is limited to National Metrology Institutes (NMI) of EU and EFTA Member States, EU candidate countries and the European Commission. Associate membership shall be open to designated National Metrology Institutes from Member States, which, for various reasons, cannot be full members, and to Designated Institutes.
EURAMET coordinates metrology activities at European level in cooperation with the International Organisation for Legal Metrology (OIML) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). Among his publications are various guides, such as calibration guides.
