The Central Office of Measures, as one of 13 Partners of the international consortium, from September 2019 has participated in the European industrial project EMPIR JRC 18SIB08 entitled “Comprehensive traceability of force metrology services” with the acronym of ComTraForce.

This project, coordinated by PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt), has received support from over 30 leading European manufacturers of force measuring instruments, who in letters of intent expressed their willingness to cooperate and their interest in the project results.

The project refers to the growing demand for ensuring measurement traceability in the European and global industry in the field of static, continuous and dynamic force, i.e. in construction, strength testing of materials, wind power installations, the maritime, aviation and space industries.

The overall aim of the project is to provide calibration services, in the field of mechanical and material testing, with the methods and guidelines needed for comprehensive traceability of static, continuous and dynamic force measurements. It also responds to the requirements of modern production and the related requirements of 4.0 industry and factory of the future.

GUM takes part, among others, in the implementation of the tasks of the work package no. 3 (WP3) on measurement traceability for static and continuous force. The purpose of this work package is to develop a metrological traceability chain in static and continuous force measurements for metrology services in the field of material testing and other mechanical testing equipment.
