22.12.2014Visit of the representatives of the National Metrology Institute of the Republic of Moldova from Kishinev

During the first day of the visit the representatives of the Moldavian NMI:
Mr. Teodor Birsa, Director of the Legal Metrology Department and Ms. Alexandra Crudu, Quality Manager of the Moldavian NMI, had a meeting with the management of the GUM: President of GUM, Ms. Janina Maria Popowska, Vice-president of GUM Ms. Dorota Habich, General Director Mr. Robert Ziółkowski and Directors of the Departments of the Central Office of Measures. Following the meeting, the guests had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with general characteristics of the legal metrological control in Poland and the organization of the Quality Management System of the GUM. In particular, in the presentations there were pointed out the differences in functioning of both institutions. Afterwards, the possibilities of the bilateral cooperation have been discussed as well.

In the second day of the visit Moldavian guests could visit the metrological departments of GUM where the heads of laboratories demonstrated the possibilities of their facilities in the field of:

1) Electricity Department:

  • Time and Frequency
  • Standards of Electrical Quantities
  • Low Frequency Electrical Quantities
  • Microwaves, Electromagnetic Field and Electromagnetic Compatibility.

2) Physical Chemistry Department:

  • Gas Reference Materials,
  • Temperature,
  • Humidity.

3) Length and Angle Department:

  • Length,
  • Angle,
  • Industrial Measurements.

4) Radiation and Vibration Department:

  • Acoustics and Vibration.

In the conclusion of the visit the guests and the representatives of the GUM had short discussion on the possibilities in the field of comparisons and calibrations. The Moldavian delegation received some hints which can be useful by establishing of the acoustic pressure standard in the Kishinev’s institute. In the summing-up, the head of the Moldavian delegation Mr. Birsa pointed out that the existing since 2012 the National Metrological Institute of the Republic of Moldova in Kishinev was looking for standards, solutions and scientific-technical support by development of the metrological activities. The guest highly appreciated the level of the presentations and demonstrations during the visits in the laboratories of GUM and simultaneously expressed his hope for the further good cooperation between both institutions.
